Ron Paul Texas BBQ, You're invited!

Got this from Ron Paul today. For proponents of liberty, and sensible
foreign policy only! -Matt

Dear Friend,

My family and I have a tradition; we kick off each re-election campaign with a down-home Texas Barbecue for friends and supporters. This year, I hope you can join us.

As the Congressional race for 2010 winds up, I want you to mark Saturday, August 15 on your calendar and hope you can set the date aside to join me in Galveston, Texas, a beautiful part of my home district. I have reserved space in the San Luis Conference Center, located on the Galveston Seawall overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. I am sure you will be as impressed as I am by the hard work and determination my neighbors in Galveston have put into rebuilding after the tragedy of Hurricane Ike.

We plan to enjoy great food, music, special guests and of course, have a lot of fun. Galveston is a great place to visit, and Carol and I are very proud to show it off to you. It is also a wonderful spot to get away for a night or the weekend, so we are working with hotels on the island to secure discounted room rates.

There are two opponents planning to run against me in the upcoming primary. Both are gearing up to attack me for defending the principles you and I hold dear: liberty, limited government and a sensible foreign policy. But, if you help me with a strong show of support, we will take the wind right out of their sails and have a great time while we do it!

Again, please mark August 15 on your calendar. More information about our Barbecue will be coming soon by email and on www.RonPaulforCongress.com. Together, we can make this a tremendous event.

Support Rand Paul for Senate in KY

Unexpectedly got an email from Ron Paul today. A very touching story of
an American family that unconditionally believes in liberty and well-controlled
governments. Read up and donate to Rand - the son of Ron. Rand recently

completed a successful MoneyBomb, attracting over $50,000 in donations! -- Matt

[Update: He recently raised $600,000 for his campaign in another money bomb!]

Dear Friend,

My son, Rand, has helped me campaign since he was 11. He and his brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews have literally knocked on thousands of doors for me.
At the age of 21, Rand debated Phil Gramm in my US Senate race in my stead. During the Presidential election he traveled to ten states giving speeches for me. He appeared on hundreds of radio programs for me. I am grateful for his contribution and very proud of the thoughtful, principled man Rand has become.
So, it is with great enthusiasm that I endorse my son Rand's venture into electoral politics. Rand has formed an exploratory committee to run for Senate in Kentucky. Sending Rand to Washington would be a tremendous victory for the Freedom Movement.
I hope you will join me in supporting Rand in any way you feel comfortable. You can get more information or make a contribution at www.randpaul2010.com

Rand has also established himself as a significant force in Kentucky politics. For fifteen years he has run Kentucky Taxpayers United, a group that rates the state legislature and promotes the Taxpayer Protection Pledge whereby candidates and office holders take a pledge not to raise taxes.

Like me, Rand is a graduate of Duke Medical School. Rand is an eye surgeon, married for eighteen years, and has three children. In addition to politics, he is the founder of the Southern Kentucky Lions Eye Clinic that provides free care for those in need.
I hope you will visit Rand's website, www.randpaul2010.com, and consider supporting him in any way you can.

Ron Paul's Prophetic Words on Automakers

As we reported in December, Ron Paul's idea was to let
Automakers go bankrupt in December, without the bailouts.

Instead $15 Billions and more were paid from US Citizen's
money, and GM car company is still going bankrupt.

Here's the link to a December post:

http://echoesofwisdom.blogspot.com/2008/12/bailout-battles-continue-small-victory.html

And here is what I wrote in December:

Ron Paul takes the mask off of the Auto Bailout: The fat cats and the unions
are looking to keep their retirement benefits and all their bonuses.

Too bad, we'll probably still have to see them go bankrupt. Hopefully sooner
rather than later.

Watch TV? Here's the Channel You Haven't Seen

From Break The Matrix 5/21/2009
You did it!

Thanks to your efforts and support, "Freedom Watch" with Judge Napolitano, Ron Paul, Peter Schiff and more is FINALLY being considered for an open time slot on Fox News Channel. Can you imagine what would happen if the Freedom message could be heard by millions of mainstream viewers each week?

They'll make the decision soon.

Here's how we can help:

1. Flood them with emails requesting the show (see below for sample email)

2. Bump the viewcounts on YouTube AND the Fox website.

Details here:
http://www.breakthematrix.com/node/36031

********************
Send as many emails as you can, get your friends to send... here's the address:

yourcomments@foxnews.com

Here's a sample email you can cut and paste (thanks to Austin Petersen of the LP):

To Whom it May concern:

I am writing today to request that Judge Napolitano’s “Freedom Watch” be given a chance to be aired on Fox News Channel.

There are so many people out there I believe that would watch it because there just aren't any shows that really cater to independent minded people like me who care about things like personal and economic freedom.

Having a show like this on T.V. would be compelling, and I would definitely watch it and get my friends and family to watch it too. Fox would be opening up a whole new market and bring in lots of new viewers! Please put it on air!

Thank you!

Please forward this email, post the videos and spread the word everywhere you can :)

Thank you SO MUCH for your ongoing efforts and support of this show.

Please sign petition for Missouri State

This is great. Way to go. Peacefully show what you believe and peacefully demonstrate that your convictions stand. And that you are organized.

March 17, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty,

Maybe you've heard, or maybe not, but the Missouri State Police think you might be a security threat.

Why? Because you support Ron Paul and the Campaign for Liberty. Also, because maybe you own guns, oppose abortion or homeschool.

Even, and I'm serious, because you support the U.S. Constitution.

I know, it's ridiculous...and probably steams you a bit.

But here at Campaign for Liberty we are going to give this foolishness the treatment it deserves. More on that in a moment. Let me give you a bit more background.

As you may be aware by now, the Missouri Information Analysis Center (MIAC) recently released a report titled, "The Modern Militia Movement" to over one thousand Missouri law enforcement officers.

What is the Missouri Information Analysis Center? According to its website,

"MIAC is the mechanism to collect incident reports of suspicious activities to be evaluated and analyzed in an effort to identify potential trends or patterns of terrorist or criminal operations within the state of Missouri. MIAC will also function as a vehicle for two-way communication between federal, state and local law enforcement community within our region."

The MIAC warned officers that violent militia members are "usually" supporters of presidential candidates like Ron Paul and are also known for opposition to things like the Federal Reserve and the income tax.

The "study" was undoubtably written by some university liberal who knows nothing of the hundreds of thousands of Missourians who share our values. I can only imagine how many hundreds of thousands of Missouri tax dollars funded this.

Both Ron Paul and Campaign for Liberty champion principles of freedom, peace, and prosperity. We believe that the Founder's vision for America can be reclaimed through education and peaceful activism. It is a common practice of elitist intellectuals and backroom bureaucrats to attempt to crowd everyone into groups and stick labels on them, especially when it involves those who support a Constitutionally-limited government.

Anthony Gregory, editor-in-chief at Campaign for Liberty, has posted an excellent new article on our site concerning government broad-brush fear campaigns.

It is important that we respond in the right way when faced with such a government labeling, and the proper way is to go straight to the top in Missouri.

The way to fight thugs and ignorant people in authority is not to cower or rage, but to proudly proclaim who you are and what you believe.

That's why I urge you to sign our Citizen's Petition here today.

Our petition spells out in no uncertain terms who we are and what we believe. And it reminds those in charge of enforcing Missouri's laws that we are citizen activists who will not be intimidated nor embarassed into silence.

Simply owning a gun does not make you a threat. It means you are a free citizen.

Supporting our Constitution does not make you worthy of a watchlist, it makes you a Patriot.

So please, sign our Citizen's Petition today. Be sure to stay tuned for more information on how we plan to respond to the MIAC.

Finally, I want to ask you a final favor. If you can, please join us next week as we gather in St. Louis for the first Campaign for Liberty Regional Conference and show the people of Missouri what Campaign for Liberty truly stands for and represents.

We will be hosting a free event on Friday Night with Ron Paul and Judge Andrew Napolitano that is open to the public, and the conference will be highlighted by grassroots training on Saturday, March 28.

Learning how to properly mobilize in order to implement liberty-based legislation is absolutely critical to our success as a movement, and our Regional Conference will provide you with the tools you need as we move forward.

For more information on our Conference, check out our Regional Conference page. For special travel and hotel information, click here.

Liberty is never free, and demands vigilance.

I look forward to seeing you in St. Louis for an exciting weekend of celebration and training!

A Letter From Ron Paul to Patriots 2/16/2009

I got this letter from Ron Paul today. The letter clearly states the objectives of the C4L and what is at stake. Do we really want an Obama's "army" of young government workers???

Read on! It is a great opportunity for all of us.

February 12, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty,

I hope you share my firm conviction that our fight is just beginning!

You’ve stood alongside me in our battles for Liberty and the Constitution before. Now, an even bigger threat – and an even bigger opportunity – is upon us.

Please read the enclosed letter from C4L’s President, John Tate. John isn’t just a friend of mine. He’s also someone who worked side by side with me in the Revolution as my National Political Director. Now he’s agreed to take up the fight in a way I cannot – by leading the Revolution on the outside, while I return to Congress.

In Liberty,

Congressman Ron Paul

FROM THE DESK OF:
John F. Tate, President
C4L

Dear Patriot,

Please take a moment to fill out the Campaign for Liberty Membership Ballot.

It’s important you do so at once.

Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Ben Bernanke are all hoping you don’t. They’re counting on you and me to sit on the sidelines and lick our wounds from last year.

Well, I for one intend to fight.

And since you are a supporter of Ron Paul and his Campaign for Liberty(C4L), I’m confident you’re ready for the brutal battles ahead as the forces of tyranny stand ready to take away more and more of our freedoms – if you and I don’t act today.

Make no mistake, the fight begins NOW.

If you and I don’t act today, the first 100 days of the Obama Administration could well be an even bigger disaster for freedom-loving proponents of constitutional government than were the last 8 years.

Already we have seen the type of assaults on limited government Barack Obama has in mind. He wasted no time in pushing forward the one TRILLION DOLLAR boondoggle he cunningly packaged as a “Stimulus Plan.”

And if the new Administration and their allies get their way, this will be just the tip of the iceberg.

And that’s not all. You and I are up against:

*** More government bailouts – for the auto industry, for more banks and financial institutions – and who knows how many others. What we can be certain of is more and more of our tax dollars are being flushed away each and every day.

*** Continued FED secrecy and practices that devalue our currency and create bubbles, malinvestment, and the volatile business cycle.

*** Expansion of federal powers under the Homeland Security Department and Patriot Act to position government to suspend your freedom at will.

*** Huge new federal bureaucracies staffed with freedom-taking enemies, intent on doing Big Government’s bidding.

*** A new Obama plan for mandatory federal service, forcing America’s young people into his “Army” of government workers.

And that’s just the beginning.

With so much at stake in the coming months, and so much to fight back against, it’s critical I have two things from you today.

First, your advice.

It is important that you share your thoughts and input with us on our Membership Ballot by following this link:

https://www.campaignforliberty.com/membershipballot.php

Secondly, it’s vital that the Revolution have your continued financial support as well.

You see, you and I are going to face some tough decisions in the near future. I may well have to decide which bills to fight and which we can’t afford to do battle over!

That’s why it’s vital your advice – and your support – come to C4L right away.

You and I have some work to do. And we must start today. This hour. This minute.

You know you can count on Ron Paul and C4L to fight when no one else will.

That is why C4L was established: to fight for common-sense principles such as freedom and limited government, and to reinsert these ideals into the American political conversation when others falter.

C4L, born out of Ron Paul’s decades-long crusade for Freedom everywhere, is the only vehicle committed to fighting the tyranny of BOTH parties in Washington, DC.

There’s no doubt that you and I are in a battle right now for the survival of our nation and its constitutional form of government. There’s so much at stake this year – and so much out there to fight. It can all seem very overwhelming at times.

But if you and I don’t lead the fight, who will?

Who will stand for our Constitution?

Who will lead the charge to take back our freedom?

Who will stand up to Barack Obama’s big government philosophy?

Ron Paul’s C4L is the ONLY nationwide organization, beholden to NEITHER party, that can do just that.

In fact, we are already mobilizing the grassroots supporters of Liberty for this battle.

But we have much work to do.

If C4L can raise the necessary funds, we will fight on each and every one of these vital issues this year:

- Fighting to preserve our freedom and Constitution.

- Opposing more government bailouts and stimulus packages.

- Fighting to stop Congress’ automatic pay raise scheduled for 2010.

- Passing legislation forcing a full audit of the Federal Reserve as we work toward eliminating that institution and restoring our money to being backed by more than just the assurances of bureaucrats.

- Strongly defending the Second Amendment from the many attacks to come.

- Protecting workers’ rights from the coercive power of Big Labor, Big Government, and Big Business.

- Working to end a foreign policy that has our troops stretched beyond the breaking point, leaving America more vulnerable.

- Promoting legislation to restore national sovereignty by cutting our ties with, and ultimately getting the U.S. out of, the U.N.

- And so much more ….

There are many crucial decisions to be made in the days and weeks ahead. Our goal is to fight each and every one of these battles, and I hope you’ll help me do just that.

You see, as an organization that stands on principle, we cannot demand fiscal responsibility while behaving recklessly ourselves. So unlike the Federal Government, we are unwilling to go into debt to finance our operations. It is only with your loyal support that C4L can hope to fight and win these many battles before us.

If you can help us financially in any way, please do. Every donation, even $25 or $50, will make a difference. And if you can afford a larger donation -- $250, $500, or even more -- it will go a very long way toward restoring freedom.

But first it is vital I have your advice on where and when to fight. That’s why I’m asking you to fill out our Membership Ballot along with your donation.

https://www.campaignforliberty.com/membershipballot.php

Our country is ailing. That is the bad news. The good news is that the remedy is simple: return to the principles of our Founders.

Respect for the Constitution, the rule of law, individual liberty, sound money, and a noninterventionist foreign policy constitute the foundation of C4L.

Join the fight today by filling out a Membership Ballot and continuing your support of Campaign for Liberty.

We are reliant on the generosity of our fellow patriots to succeed in this important struggle. After helping by sharing your input, please help us further by making a generous contribution of $250, $100, $50, or whatever you can afford.

Our Founders prevailed in their Revolution due to their unshakable resolve and unerring faith in the principles now championed by C4L.

With your help, we too can beat back the forces of Big Government, reclaim our Republic, and restore respect for our Constitution.

In Liberty,

John F. Tate
President

PS: With more government bailouts, trillion dollar “stimulus” packages, and nearly daily threats to our liberty on the agenda this year, it’s vital your C4L fight back today – before we see the total destruction of the U.S. dollar.

Please share your thoughts on how best to win these battles by clicking here. C4L relies on the input and financial support of freedom-loving Americans for our continued success.

If you can afford it, please join our fight for freedom and donate $250, $100, or $50 today!

C4L Mass Action Day

Got this email from C4L today. Great list of talking points and
phone numbers to call below!

January 28, 2009

Dear friend of liberty,

While driving to work two weeks ago, Campaign for Liberty member Chris Engel was listening to a conversation on talk radio.

After one particular caller, Chris decided he couldn't just listen anymore; he had to join the discussion.

"It is hard not to pay attention to what is going on in the world today," Chris said. "To put it lightly, there is a lot."

So, he picked up the phone and dialed the number for Bill Bennett's radio program, "Morning in America."

"The host and screener were very nice and the show had many opinions offered," Chris explained.

After getting on the air, Chris made a great point about how we not only enjoy the sacrifices made by our nation's founders, but that our parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents struggled to give us an inheritance we are now too willing to throw away for a short-term gain.

"At the end, I got a quick shout-out in for Dr. Paul and the folks trying to swing the pendulum back the other way at Campaign for Liberty," Chris said.

Chris did a great job!

Inspired by Chris, Campaign for Liberty would like to encourage all of you to follow his lead with our first Mass Action Day.

Campaign for Liberty Mass Action Days are one-day events where the national organization encourages its members and state groups to perform a specific task in order to achieve a stated organizational goal.

The first Mass Action Day will be centered on National Freedom Day.

According to the Library of Congress,

Major Richard Robert Wright Sr., a former slave, fought to have a day when freedom for all Americans would be celebrated. When Wright received his freedom, he went on to become a successful businessman and community leader in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Major Wright chose February 1 as National Freedom Day because it was the day in 1865 that President Lincoln signed the 13th Amendment to the Constitution...

Wright gathered national and local leaders together to write a bill declaring February 1 "National Freedom Day" and President Harry Truman signed the bill in 1948 making it official.

"National Freedom Day" provides a backdrop for us to discuss the principles that made our country great - limited government, a noninterventionist foreign policy, and a respect for civil liberties.

For this Mass Action Day, we are asking you to contact national and local talk radio programs to share and elaborate on items within Campaign for Liberty's Core Principles and message of freedom.

This year, February 1 falls on a Sunday. For that reason, and because most talk shows accept a wider range of calls on Fridays, the Action Day is this Friday, January 30th.

A set of basic talking points along with a list of national talk radio programs and their contact information has been created to help you with this effort. Please view these documents here and here.

The goal is simple: we want to educate and influence mainstream political thought so that its adherents begin to adopt our core principles as their own.

Thanks for all the hard work you have done, and for the support you have given to Dr. Paul and his message of freedom. Together, we can ensure the success of our message and see a day when our Constitution is respected and our liberties are secured.

If you make it on the air, please send a link to the audio of that show. We will be posting successful calls on Campaign for Liberty's main page.

For liberty,

Matt Holdridge

Director of Marketing, Campaign for Liberty

P.S. Follow the lead of Campaign for Liberty member Chris Engel, and call a national or local talk radio program on Friday, January 30, 2009. Click here for a set of basic talking points along with a list of national talk radio shows and their contact information here. If you make it on the air, please send a link to the audio of that show. Again, we will be posting successful calls on Campaign for Liberty's main page.

Bailout Battles Continue-Small Victory!

Ron Paul takes the mask off of the Auto Bailout: The fat cats and the unions
are looking to keep their retirement benefits and all their bonuses.

Too bad, we'll probably still have to see them go bankrupt. Hopefully sooner
rather than later.

[Update: Sure enough, GM went bankrupt soon thereafter]

December 12, 2008

Dear fellow Patriot,

Small piece of good news out of Washington last night!

After the House of Representatives rubberstamped a $15 billion bailout package for Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler in a 237-170 mostly party line vote, bailout proceedings croaked in the Senate last night.

See Ron Paul tear the bailout’s mask off during a speech on the House floor on Wednesday and expose it for what it really is:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dr6vfHtYu0

While some Senators’ motives for voting down a cloture motion on the Senate floor weren’t as honorable as we could have hoped, public opposition still led a majority of Senate Republicans to refuse consideration of the corporate socialist boondoggle.

If you were one of the many Campaign for Liberty patriots who turned up the heat on Congress, you deserve a hearty “thank you”!

But don’t expect The Big Three and the United Automotive Workers union to just give up.

Now they’re pressuring the White House to cut them big slices of the Treasury’s $700 billion taxpayer pizza – and don’t forget the $50 billion in grants they still want from the Department of Energy.

Read all about it on our Liberty Blog (http://campaignforliberty.com/blog.php?view=5881).

Obama. Change. What Change?

What Change?

By Chuck Baldwin

December 5, 2008

This column is archived at

http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/c2008/cbarchive_20081205.html

"Change you can believe in." This was Barack Obama's campaign slogan. There

is no doubt that the American people were fed up with George W. Bush and his

fellow Republicans. Who can blame them?

After campaigning for change back in 1999 (What political challenger doesn't

campaign for change?), President Bush and his fellow neocons promptly set

out to continue business as usual in Washington, D.C. Federal spending and

meddling exploded under the leadership of the GOP. In fact, one has to go

back to the administrations of Franklin D. Roosevelt to match the increases

in Big Government and Big Brother by Bush and Company. Add to the

out-of-control spending habits of the GOP an unnecessary war, a

near-Depression economy, and a burgeoning police state. It is no surprise

that the American people were ready for change. And Obama excelled in

delivering the message of change. So, what kind of change will Obama

actually deliver?

Will Obama remove U.S. troops from Iraq and Afghanistan? Probably not. Oh,

he might reduce troops in Iraq, but if anyone believes that he will not

leave a significant U.S. presence in Iraq, they are living in a dream world.

Furthermore, many, if not most, of the troops from Iraq will most likely

find themselves in Afghanistan. Mark my words; Barack Obama has no plans to

remove U.S. troops from the Middle East. Net result: no change.

What about America's economic woes? What changes will Barack Obama bring to

the table? Hardly any. America will continue it's trademark deficit

spending; we will continue to send manufacturing jobs overseas; so-called

"free trade" deals will continue to advance; Big Business will continue to

receive government bailouts; the Federal Reserve will continue to call the

shots for America's financial decisions (and reap gargantuan profits in the

process); Congress will continue to be inept, irresponsible, and clueless;

there will be no attempt to return the United States to sound money

principles; and there will be no reduction in foreign aid. In a nutshell, it

will be business as usual in Washington, D.C., and New York City.

Don't get me wrong: Barack Obama will doubtless throw out some bones to his

liberal supporters in much the same way that Republican presidents throw out

a bone or two to their conservative constituents. Watch for Obama to

overturn the ban on embryonic stem cell research. America's upper income

earners can expect some sort of tax increase. No doubt oil companies will

end up losing some tax exemptions. Watch for additional environmentalist

policies to be enacted. And, yes, there will be some sort of "universal

health care" proposal. But the Bush administration has already given America

a socialized financial system, so how can Republicans complain about

socialized medicine?

Obama might try to resurrect the "Fairness Doctrine." Some suggest that

Obama might try to rid the prohibition of homosexuals serving in the armed

forces, but I doubt that he will take on this one. The political net gain

would not be worth the potential fallout.

Although he might want to, I doubt that Obama will actively promote

additional gun control (Democrats always lose when this happens). He may

push for a ban on "high capacity" magazines that hold over ten rounds, as

Bill Clinton did. If Obama does not go after guns directly, we can expect

some sort of attack on ammunition (which is already happening) that will

drive up the cost of ammo even more. Of course, some sort of gun

confiscation or martial law could materialize in the wake of another

"terrorist" attack. But a McCain administration would act no differently,

so, again, the net result is zero change. Remember, it was Republican George

W. Bush who expunged Posse Comitatus and deployed 20,000 army troops on U.S.

soil to be used for domestic law enforcement. If Obama really wanted to

bring about change, he would reverse Bush's draconian decisions, would he

not? Don't hold your breath.

We can also expect more harassment of gun owners and lawful gun dealers by

the BATFE. But this is no change at all. The current leadership at BATFE is

already about as hostile to gun owners and gun dealers as it can possibly

be. An Obama BATFE will be no worse. But neither will it be any better. Net

result: no change.

So, what will be the overall change to the direction of America? Answer:

there will be no change to the overall direction of the country. There will

be no change to the welfare state. There will be little change to the

warfare state. No change to NATO, except to expand it. Very little change,

if any, to foreign policy. No change to America's open sieves, otherwise

called national borders. And there will be absolutely no change to the

burgeoning New World Order that began in earnest under both Bushes and Bill

Clinton.

The NAFTA superhighway will have the support of the Obama administration.

The North American Community will proceed unimpeded by the Obama White

House. In all likelihood, the Amero (a common currency with Canada and

Mexico) will materialize during Obama's first term. But this would all have

happened had John McCain been elected. No change here.

One reason why it is so easy to predict a business-as-usual Obama Presidency

is the people that Obama has surrounded himself with. Former New York

Federal Reserve chairman Timothy Geithner* for Secretary of the Treasury;

former Secretary of the Treasury Lawrence Summers* for National Economic

Council director; Bush's Defense Secretary Robert Gates* will keep his job;

Illinois Representative Rahm Emanuel for Obama's Chief of Staff; Hillary

Clinton for Secretary of State; Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano* for

Secretary of Homeland Security; former South Dakota Senator Tom Daschle* to

head the Health and Human Services Department; former Assistant Attorney

General Eric Holder to be Attorney General; New Mexico Governor Bill

Richardson* as Secretary of Commerce; Susan Rice* for U.S. Ambassador to the

United Nations; Paul Volcker* for the Economic Recovery Advisory Board;

James Steinberg* as Deputy Secretary of State; Mona Sutphen* for Deputy

White House Chief of Staff, and Louis Caldera* for Director of the White

House Military Office.

Does anyone see "change" with the above names? Every one of them is a

longtime political insider. And at least eleven of them (those with an

asterisk [*] behind their names, above) are members of the globalist Council

on Foreign Relations (CFR). In fact, six out of the eleven cabinet-level

positions in the Obama administration are CFR members.

The CFR has dominated both Democrat and Republican Presidential

administrations for decades. Presidents such as Dwight Eisenhower, Richard

Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton have all

been members of the CFR. Vice Presidents such as Hubert Humphrey, Nelson

Rockefeller, Walter Mondale, and Dick Cheney have been CFR members. And over

the last several decades, practically every secretary of defense, secretary

of the treasury, and most CIA directors have been CFR members. And let's not

forget that this year's Republican Presidential nominee, John McCain, is a

CFR member.

Do you now see why--no matter who is elected President of the United

States--nothing changes? Republican or Democrat, it does not matter: the CFR

and their collaborators remain in power. And as Sonny and Cher used to sing,

"The Beat Goes On."

There will be no real change in Washington, D.C., until the CFR and their

elitist cronies are thoroughly and universally removed from power. And the

only way this will happen is if we elect an Independent President of the

United States (someone who truly understands the New World Order and is

dedicated to defeating it), because the two major parties will never allow

someone opposed to the CFR to become their nominee. The only Republican

candidate for President in 2008 who demonstrated those credentials was Dr.

Ron Paul. And to a lesser degree, the only Democrat who even seemed to

vaguely understand this was Dennis Kucinich. Notice that both men were

thoroughly repudiated by their respective parties' leadership and all but

totally ignored by the national news media. (The CFR and their surrogates

also control the national news media. What a coincidence!)

So, while the occupant at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue may have changed, there

will be no real change to the direction of these United States. Count on it!

Action Alert from Campaign For Liberty - No Bailout for Big 3

Action Alert

After the Paulson $700 billion bailout package passed in early October, we knew it was only a matter of time before Congress moved to use your money yet again to bail out a struggling industry.

Now, a vote to give funds to the "Big 3" auto manufactures, GM, Ford, and Chrysler, is likely to come up in the Senate tomorrow.

Call your Senators today and ask them to oppose bailing out the auto industry, whether with funds from TARP, revisions of previous loans, or any new grants. To find the information for your Senators, click on our "States" page and look for your state. Phone numbers and links to contact forms can be found near the bottom of each state's page. We have included recommended letters at the end of this email to send your Senator.

The ultimate fate of the auto industry bailout remains uncertain, and it is crucial that we contact our Senators today and urge them to stick to the Constitution and free market principles.

Please also consider making a donation to Campaign for Liberty today to aid us in our efforts to fight big government policies at the local, state, and federal levels. Together, we will achieve our goals of reclaiming our Republic and restoring our Constitution.

In Liberty,

John Tate

Letter #1

Dear Senator (Name),

I urge you to oppose any bailout of the auto industry, whether by taking existing funds from TARP, revising any previous loans, or making new grants.

The auto industry is lobbying hard for taxpayer money when they should be entirely focused on restructuring their companies and recouping their losses. There is no guarantee that a government handout will have any positive effect, and that GM, Ford, and Chrysler will not be back in a few months asking for additional billions.

Since a bailout will only delay the economic consequences of the Big 3's current predicaments, Congress should allow the market to work so that the fallout can be dealt with and overcome as quickly as possible.

Instead of handing out more of the taxpayers' money and moving further away from the free market ideas that made America great, I ask you to:

1.) Curb regulation: The auto industry is already one of the most heavily-regulated industries, and a bailout will bring more government regulation and additional costs. Alleviating even a little of the red tape would free up resources for them to address their financial situations, save jobs, and produce quality products to jump-start sales.

2.) Cut taxes: Cutting corporate and capital gains taxes would give these companies immediate funds to put toward their problems. Cutting individual income taxes would return much needed money to workers and consumers, strengthening their financial positions and purchasing power during these turbulent times.

Taking just these two steps will save the industry far more in the long run than the numbers currently being proposed for the bailout.

Additionally, because the Paulson TARP plan has abandoned its originally stated purpose of buying toxic assets, is not holding up its promises to be transparent, and has not been properly accountable to Congress, no further expenditures should be authorized until the Treasury Department presents a full accounting to Congress of how it has already dispersed TARP funds.

Since the election, Republicans have talked of returning to their limited government message. This is a chance for you to prove your commitment to free market capitalism and the freedom philosophy by demonstrating that the Republican Party will be worthy of our trust in the next Congress. A vote for another bailout will send the signal that, despite any lip-service paid to limited government principles, Republican talking points of defending them are cheap and little more than campaign rhetoric.

The answers to our economic problems cannot be found in further government intervention. As your constituent, I urge you not to put my tax dollars on the line and to vote "no" on the auto industry bailout.

Sincerely,

Dear Friend,

Donate TodayThese are the last days of this election. Will you continue to help me?

The Washington power brokers pretend they have this in the bag. They say they can easily defeat me on Election Day and are "perfectly comfortable with their position."

So comfortable that they are scrambling to control our momentum.

My opponent, David Price, who describes himself as a "Progressive Democrat," is a dedicated servant of all the special interests who have given us the disasters of recent years, from unconstitutional wars to recession, from huge deficits to massive new welfare programs.

The man's 2nd largest campaign contributor is the Military Industrial Complex.

He voted to deregulate the banking industry.

His largest personal holding is in Exxon Mobil.

Does that sound like a 'Progressive Democrat'?

When I think of a Progressive Democrat I tend to think of someone like Dennis Kucinich, whom I admire for his adherence to the Constitution and respect for civil liberties. Mr. Kucinich challenges the establishment and Washington elite in defense of these principles.

David Price is no progressive.

People like David Price will do anything to gain and keep power.  They represent everything that is wrong with DC.

If I am defeated on November 4th, it will be proclaimed by the media here in North Carolina to Washington DC that such "ridiculous and outmoded notions" as the personal liberty, limited government, free market, sound money, and a foreign policy of non-intervention are not a way to win an election.

I am determined not to let this happen.  All that we believe in is far too important to the future of our country, and to everyone and everything we love, to let the Washington Establishment dance on its grave.

Please, help me stop the lies, the distortions, the pressure groups, the special interests that benefit from efforts such as the Wall Street Bailout, The Patriot Act, FISA, The War on Terror and The War on Drugs.

There is still time to run more advertisements, purchase more Constitutions and flyers,  continue the fantastic phone banking, and get the vote out in the Fourth District.

Please help me go to Congress to fight for the people of my district, and for the ideas that can save our country from its unsustainable path.

Please give today at http://www.lawsonforcongress.com, as generously and as quickly as you can.

In liberty,

Dr. Ron Paul’s House floor remarks on the bailout

Dr. Paul’s House floor remarks on the bailout

Dr. Paul gave a quick speech on the House floor this morning concerning the bailout. Due to the nature of the debate today, he didn’t have time to read his full remarks, which were put into the congressional record and are featured below:

The process of this bailout reminds me of a panic-stricken swimmer thrashing in the water only making his situation worse. Even a “bipartisan deal”—whatever that is supposed to mean— will not stop the Congress from thrashing about.

The beneficiaries of the corrupt monetary system of the last three decades are now desperately looking for victims to stick with the bill after they have reaped decades of profit and privilege.

The difficulties in our economy will continue because the Legislative and the Executive branches have not yet begun to address the real problems. The housing bubble’s collapse, as was the Dot Com bubble’s collapse, was predictable and is merely a symptom of the monetary system that brought us to this point.

Indeed, we do face a major crisis but it is much bigger than the freezing up of Wall Street and dealing with worthless assets on the books of major banks. The true crisis is the pending collapse of the fiat dollar system that emerged after the breakdown of the Bretton Woods agreement in 1971.

For 37 years the world built a financial system based on the dollar as the reserve currency of the world in an attempt to make the dollar serve as the new standard of value. However since 1971, the dollar has had no intrinsic value, as it is not tied to gold. The dollar is simply a fiat currency, which has fluctuated in value on a daily, if not hourly, bias. This worked to some degree until the market realized that too much debt and malinvestment existed and a correction was required.

Because of our economic and military strength, compared to other countries, trust in America’s currency lasted longer than deserved. This resulted in the biggest worldwide economic distortion in all of history. The problem is much bigger than the fears of a temporary decline on Wall Street if the bailout is not agreed to.

Money’s most important function is to serve as a means of exchange—a measurement of value. If this crucial yardstick is not stable, it becomes impossible for investors, entrepreneurs, savers, and consumers to make correct decisions; these mistakes create the bubble that must eventually be corrected.

Just imagine the results if a construction company was forced to use a yardstick whose measures changed daily to construct a skyscraper. The result would be a very unstable and dangerous building. No doubt the construction company would try to cover up their fundamental problem with patchwork repairs, but no amount of patchwork can fix a building with an unstable inner structure. Eventually, the skyscraper will collapse, forcing the construction company to rebuild—hopefully this time with a stable yardstick. This 700 billion package is more patchwork repair and will prove to be money down a rat hole and will only make the dollar crisis that much worse.

But what politicians are willing to say that the financial “skyscraper”—the global financial and monetary system-is a house of cards. It is not going to happen at this juncture. They’re not even talking about this. They talk only of bailouts, more monetary inflation, more special interest spending, more debt, and more regulations. There is almost no talk of the relationship of the Community Reinvestment Act, HUD, and government assisted loans to the housing bubble. And there is no talk of the oversight that is desperately needed for the Federal Reserve, the Exchange Stabilization Fund, and all the activities of the President’s Working Group on financial markets. When these actions are taken we will at last know that Congress is serious about the reforms that are really needed.

In conclusion, there are three good reasons why Congress should reject this legislation:

a. It is immoral—Dumping bad debt on the innocent taxpayers is an act of theft and is wrong.

b. It is unconstitutional—There is no constitutional authority to use government power to serve special interests.

c. It is bad economic policy—By refusing to address the monetary system while continuing to place the burdens of the bailout on the dollar, we can be certain that in time, we will be faced with another, more severe crisis when the market figures out that there is no magic government bailout or regulation that can make a fraudulent monetary system work.

Monetary reform will eventually come, but, unfortunately, Congress’ actions this week make it more likely the reform will come under dire circumstances, such as the midst of a worldwide collapse of the dollar. The question then will be how much of our liberties will be sacrificed in the process. Just remember what we lost in the aftermath of 9-11.

The best result we can hope for is that the economic necessity of getting our fiscal house in order will, at last, force us to give up our world empire. Without the empire we can then concentrate on rebuilding the Republic.

Take Action with Campaign For Liberty

Thursday, September 26, 2008

Dear C4L Member,

Yesterday, Ron Paul sent out a letter warning of the dangers of the Paulson and Bernanke bailout plan and asking you to contact your representatives and senators. A vote on this bill could literally come at any moment, and it is crucial that you immediately express your opinion to Congress.

The picture painted by the supporters of the bailout is dire. President Bush reinforced this notion in his address to the nation last night and again urged Congress to act immediately.

Remember what happened the last time the executive branch warned of horrible consequences and rushed legislation through Congress? We got the Patriot Act, which to this day threatens our civil liberties on an unprecedented scale.

We do know that our economy is in for a rough ride. These bad mortgage-related assets will have to be cleared out and the market will have to reset. The only question is how that will happen.

The easy way out is to continue the same practices that got us to this point. We can put $700 billion, for starters, in the hands of Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson (a former CEO of Goldman Sachs) and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, and let them spend the money on whatever they wish.

This option will only delay the economic downturn, which will only be worsened.

Or, we can take this opportunity to end the federal government's interference in the marketplace, truly embrace free market capitalism, and return to a sound monetary system.

The Federal Reserve's practices of easy credit and monetary inflation have crashed our economy, and now they're asking us to trust them to fix it.

When you call Congress to express your outrage at the bailout, tell them you want real solutions.

It is time for Congress to:

1.) End the Bailouts - Congress must revoke the Federal Reserve's authority to bail out failed businesses at your expense.

2.) Cut Taxes and Curb Regulation - If we really want to stimulate businesses and revive the market, we need to cut corporate and capital gains taxes, spurring investors to come back to the market and making it easier to attract new workers and clients. It is also time to end failed legislation like Sarbanes-Oxley, which has crippled capital markets, diminished our competitiveness, and greatly harmed small businesses.

3.) Reduce Spending - We must freeze all non-entitlement spending by the federal government at current levels and eliminate wasteful spending both domestically and in our trillion-dollar overseas budget. Our debt has to come down, and it won't until we start living within our means.

4.) Reform the Monetary System - If we are to have long-term economic progress, we must end the system of printing money out of thin air. The current laws limiting the circulation of gold and silver-backed currency must be overturned. We can no longer base our money on the empty promises of bureaucrats that it is sound.

The federal government is trying to scare us into accepting more tyranny. Don't stand for it.

Check out our action alert, and let Congress know that you will no longer tolerate the Federal Reserve's stranglehold on our economy.

Ron Paul's Answer to the President

Dear Friends:

The financial meltdown the economists of the Austrian School predicted has arrived.

We are in this crisis because of an excess of artificially created credit at the hands of the Federal Reserve System. The solution being proposed? More artificial credit by the Federal Reserve. No liquidation of bad debt and malinvestment is to be allowed. By doing more of the same, we will only continue and intensify the distortions in our economy - all the capital misallocation, all the malinvestment - and prevent the market's attempt to re-establish rational pricing of houses and other assets.

Last night the president addressed the nation about the financial crisis. There is no point in going through his remarks line by line, since I'd only be repeating what I've been saying over and over - not just for the past several days, but for years and even decades.

Still, at least a few observations are necessary.

The president assures us that his administration "is working with Congress to address the root cause behind much of the instability in our markets." Care to take a guess at whether the Federal Reserve and its money creation spree were even mentioned?

We are told that "low interest rates" led to excessive borrowing, but we are not told how these low interest rates came about. They were a deliberate policy of the Federal Reserve. As always, artificially low interest rates distort the market. Entrepreneurs engage in malinvestments - investments that do not make sense in light of current resource availability, that occur in more temporally remote stages of the capital structure than the pattern of consumer demand can support, and that would not have been made at all if the interest rate had been permitted to tell the truth instead of being toyed with by the Fed.

Not a word about any of that, of course, because Americans might then discover how the great wise men in Washington caused this great debacle. Better to keep scapegoating the mortgage industry or "wildcat capitalism" (as if we actually have a pure free market!).

Speaking about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the president said: "Because these companies were chartered by Congress, many believed they were guaranteed by the federal government. This allowed them to borrow enormous sums of money, fuel the market for questionable investments, and put our financial system at risk."

Doesn't that prove the foolishness of chartering Fannie and Freddie in the first place? Doesn't that suggest that maybe, just maybe, government may have contributed to this mess? And of course, by bailing out Fannie and Freddie, hasn't the federal government shown that the "many" who "believed they were guaranteed by the federal government" were in fact correct?

Then come the scare tactics. If we don't give dictatorial powers to the Treasury Secretary "the stock market would drop even more, which would reduce the value of your retirement account. The value of your home could plummet." Left unsaid, naturally, is that with the bailout and all the money and credit that must be produced out of thin air to fund it, the value of your retirement account will drop anyway, because the value of the dollar will suffer a precipitous decline. As for home prices, they are obviously much too high, and supply and demand cannot equilibrate if government insists on propping them up.

It's the same destructive strategy that government tried during the Great Depression: prop up prices at all costs. The Depression went on for over a decade. On the other hand, when liquidation was allowed to occur in the equally devastating downturn of 1921, the economy recovered within less than a year.

The president also tells us that Senators McCain and Obama will join him at the White House today in order to figure out how to get the bipartisan bailout passed. The two senators would do their country much more good if they stayed on the campaign trail debating who the bigger celebrity is, or whatever it is that occupies their attention these days.

F.A. Hayek won the Nobel Prize for showing how central banks' manipulation of interest rates creates the boom-bust cycle with which we are sadly familiar. In 1932, in the depths of the Great Depression, he described the foolish policies being pursued in his day - and which are being proposed, just as destructively, in our own:

Instead of furthering the inevitable liquidation of the maladjustments brought about by the boom during the last three years, all conceivable means have been used to prevent that readjustment from taking place; and one of these means, which has been repeatedly tried though without success, from the earliest to the most recent stages of depression, has been this deliberate policy of credit expansion.

To combat the depression by a forced credit expansion is to attempt to cure the evil by the very means which brought it about; because we are suffering from a misdirection of production, we want to create further misdirection - a procedure that can only lead to a much more severe crisis as soon as the credit expansion comes to an end... It is probably to this experiment, together with the attempts to prevent liquidation once the crisis had come, that we owe the exceptional severity and duration of the depression.

The only thing we learn from history, I am afraid, is that we do not learn from history.

The very people who have spent the past several years assuring us that the economy is fundamentally sound, and who themselves foolishly cheered the extension of all these novel kinds of mortgages, are the ones who now claim to be the experts who will restore prosperity! Just how spectacularly wrong, how utterly without a clue, does someone have to be before his expert status is called into question?

Oh, and did you notice that the bailout is now being called a "rescue plan"? I guess "bailout" wasn't sitting too well with the American people.

The very people who with somber faces tell us of their deep concern for the spread of democracy around the world are the ones most insistent on forcing a bill through Congress that the American people overwhelmingly oppose. The very fact that some of you seem to think you're supposed to have a voice in all this actually seems to annoy them.

I continue to urge you to contact your representatives and give them a piece of your mind. I myself am doing everything I can to promote the correct point of view on the crisis. Be sure also to educate yourselves on these subjects - the Campaign for Liberty blog is an excellent place to start. Read the posts, ask questions in the comment section, and learn.

H.G. Wells once said that civilization was in a race between education and catastrophe. Let us learn the truth and spread it as far and wide as our circumstances allow. For the truth is the greatest weapon we have.

In liberty,

Ron Paul

Letter From Ron Paul 9-24-2008

Wednesday, September 24, 2008

Dear Friends,

Whenever a Great Bipartisan Consensus is announced, and a compliant media assures everyone that the wondrous actions of our wise leaders are being taken for our own good, you can know with absolute certainty that disaster is about to strike.

The events of the past week are no exception.

The bailout package that is about to be rammed down Congress' throat is not just economically foolish. It is downright sinister. It makes a mockery of our Constitution, which our leaders should never again bother pretending is still in effect. It promises the American people a never-ending nightmare of ever-greater debt liabilities they will have to shoulder. Two weeks ago, financial analyst Jim Rogers said the bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac made America more communist than China! "This is welfare for the rich," he said. "This is socialism for the rich. It's bailing out the financiers, the banks, the Wall Streeters."

That describes the current bailout package to a T. And we're being told it's unavoidable.

The claim that the market caused all this is so staggeringly foolish that only politicians and the media could pretend to believe it. But that has become the conventional wisdom, with the desired result that those responsible for the credit bubble and its predictable consequences - predictable, that is, to those who understand sound, Austrian economics - are being let off the hook. The Federal Reserve System is actually positioning itself as the savior, rather than the culprit, in this mess!

• The Treasury Secretary is authorized to purchase up to $700 billion in mortgage-related assets at any one time. That means $700 billion is only the very beginning of what will hit us.

• Financial institutions are "designated as financial agents of the Government." This is the New Deal to end all New Deals.

• Then there's this: "Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency." Translation: the Secretary can buy up whatever junk debt he wants to, burden the American people with it, and be subject to no one in the process.

There goes your country.

Even some so-called free-market economists are calling all this "sadly necessary." Sad, yes. Necessary? Don't make me laugh.

Our one-party system is complicit in yet another crime against the American people. The two major party candidates for president themselves initially indicated their strong support for bailouts of this kind - another example of the big choice we're supposedly presented with this November: yes or yes. Now, with a backlash brewing, they're not quite sure what their views are. A sad display, really.

Although the present bailout package is almost certainly not the end of the political atrocities we'll witness in connection with the crisis, time is short. Congress may vote as soon as tomorrow. With a Rasmussen poll finding support for the bailout at an anemic seven percent, some members of Congress are afraid to vote for it. Call them! Let them hear from you! Tell them you will never vote for anyone who supports this atrocity.

The issue boils down to this: do we care about freedom? Do we care about responsibility and accountability? Do we care that our government and media have been bought and paid for? Do we care that average Americans are about to be looted in order to subsidize the fattest of cats on Wall Street and in government? Do we care?

When the chips are down, will we stand up and fight, even if it means standing up against every stripe of fashionable opinion in politics and the media?

Times like these have a way of telling us what kind of a people we are, and what kind of country we shall be.

In liberty,

Ron Paul
